Stepping a mast on a tall ship is a time of honor and celebration in the life of a ship. Imaging the places it will go and the things it will see!

We were honored to be aboard when the new mast was lifted into place and secured.. It will be there for the next 50 years!

It was fascinating to watch the process. Lifting a 7.5 ton mast with an 8 ton crane created some white knuckles, especially when one of two guy wires became detached. But, in the end, it worked out, and the Mandalay sails again!
